Footnote
Notes: George Cooper of Aberdeen was perhaps the most accomplished maker of tea wares in the Scottish provinces, and indeed could rival any of his Edinburgh or Glasgow counterparts. The wealth of items which are seen by him show great testament to these skills and the want for such fashionable wares by his Aberdeen clients.
This said the survival mainly comprises teapots and stands / salvers and a few sugar bowls, these tea caddies however are a rare survival within.
Currently three examples are known within Museum collections (including one pair) and a pair within a private collection. Compared to the number of teapots by the same maker within the period (as many as 19 or 20) the rarity of these caddies becomes apparent.
