Notes:
Although bearing the makers and town marks for Colin Mitchell of Canongate, these forks have obviously been altered from original Hanoverian pattern tablespoons by his hand. The conversion to table forks by an unknown Dundee maker who has added his own 'pot of lilies' town mark over some of the original marks. The 'pot of lilies' mark bears close resemblance to that of Alexander Cameron, and it seems probable he was the silversmith to convert these to forks.
While the trade in old silver is commonly recorded between silversmiths it is rarely so obvious as this.
