A matched pair of mid 18th century Jacobite wine glasses
Auction: 14 August 2012 at 15:00 BST
£1,000
Description
the tapered conical bowls engraved with flowers (lily of the valley and harebells respectively) and each with the moth engraved to the reverse, raised on airtwist stems and spreading foot (2)
Dimensions
17cm high
Footnote
Notes: although the engraved flowers to both these glasses are unusual (not being the typical rose heads and buds), however when compared to a pair within the Drambuie collection it appears possible that these flowers represent an anagram of 'Charles' and a full set of seven glasses spelling it in full.
