Footnote
Note: Ebenezer Oliphant was the maker of the travelling canteen given to Prince Charles Edward Stewart, which is rightly considered one of the finest examples of mid 18th century Scottish silver work. This can be seen on display in the National Museum of Scotland and also featured in Ian Findlay's Scottish Gold and Silverwork.
Oliphant is considered to be one of the few true Jacobite silversmiths whose allegance to the Jacobite cause can be easily seen through his patrons of the time, unlike many other silversmiths whose political leanings seem to equally follow their possible commissions and work.
