Footnote
Notes: The town mark struck to this piece forms a new part for the rare survival of the 'segmented' Glasgow town. Still following the tree, fish, bell and ring components of the standard mark (taken from the town arms) it is here represented in segments within the punch cartouche, rather than the truer representation from the town arms. This is the first time that a version of this punch has been noted with James Glen as the maker.
For an example of a similar mark by Robert Luke, see Lyon & Turnbull 'Scottish Silver and Accessories' 16th August 2010, lot 290
