MacKay Brothers, marked 'MACKAY/DUNDEE' in large tablet punch, the badge of typical form with belted garter with motto within surrounding crest, contained in original leather box inscribed to inside of cover 'MacKay Brothers, watchmakers & Jewellers 11. High Street Dundee'

Notes: very little work by MacKay Brothers has been recorded and so far only a very small number of marked clan badges have been recorded. Various jewellery boxes and signed watch movements etc have been noted but marked wares appear scarce. This is one of the few 19th century or later makers not represented in the Dr. W Guthrie collection.
Heraldry: the crest and motto of SUB SPE with a sword and key in saltire are for DUNBAR
