A mid 18th century Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword

Description
the basket composed of panels and round section bars, the knuckle plate, side plates and shields are all pierced with hearts and holes, those on the shields framed by a double groove, the other plates having vertical grooving. The large bi-conical pommel has a small capstan shaped tang button, the wooden grip is probably a replacement. The earlier German blade has a fuller extending to around half of the blade length, bearing in one side the running wolf of Solingen/Passau partially inlaid in copper, the scabbard is of plain leather with a brass mouthpiece and chape
