Footnote
Notes: This unusual survival is not just remarkable for it's size and fragility but because of it's rarity. It is recorded in the Edinburgh Assay Office that 12 pairs of lamps were sent for assay in a single parcel and therefore it must be considered that this constitutes only six sets. One other set is known but is lacking the suspender and stand.
