Footnote
Notes: the applied presentation plaque reads 'Awarded to Captain Walter Elliott Elliott MC RAMC by the Officers of the Royal Scots Greys, as a memento of their appreciation of and esteem for his unremitting devotion to the welfare of the regiment during the war, more especially in action when his untiring efforts and promptitude have been responsible for the saving of many lives' followed by list of Officers and involved in presentation.
The carved wooden base which forms the largest part of this piece is of unusually high quality for such figures. Hamilton & Inches worked very closely on such important commissions with the Edinburgh cabinet makers, Whytock and Reid.
The form of the statue is based on the war memorial to the Regiment in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh.
