Footnote
Note: A rare work, "prepared and sold by Mary Wyatt, dealer in shells, Torquay, by whom only, orders are received, post-paid". Apart from the missing specimen 170 and some spotting and occasional dust-soiling this appears to be a good copy, with virtually no damage to the specimens. Each leaf has a printed numbered caption on a small slip pasted in at the foot of the page, with the Latin name, reference to Hooker's British Flora and Grev. Algae Britannicae, and a note as to the rock type it was found on, location found, and rarity. There are two and occasionally three examples of the smaller specimens pasted onto each leaf. The Earl of Perth's copy [Christie's 20 Nov. 2003] had a supplement, not present here, with a further 32 specimens representing 29 species on 29 leaves.
