Violet Trefusis's visitor book from the Chateau at St. Loup de Naud, signed by several hundred visitors including Peggy Guggenheim, Lesley Blanch and François Mitterrand "L'âme des choses, le reflet du temps, François Mitterrand, 26 Novembre 1977", some with attractive sketches, oblong 4to, maroon morooco gilt, gilt edges, slipcase, entries from 1957-1977; and correspondence between John Phillips and François Mitterrand relating to Violet Trefusis, comprising seven autograph letters or cards signed by Mitterrand, one Christmas card signed, a framed coloured photographic print of Mitterrand inscribed "Pour John Phillips en cordial hommage, François Mitterrand"

Note: St. Loup de Naud, a mediavel towerhouse some eighty kilometres from Paris was acquired by Violet Trefusis in 1927. The signatures in her Visitors Book recall her famous hospitality there, her wit and accomplishents and gift for friendship.
