Manuscript Koran, doube-page first sura decorated in red, pale green, violet and heightened with gold, marginal medallions, sura headings in red, pale blue and yellow, with at either end several leaves of practice handwriting bound in, 19th century limp cloth wrappers, rebound in early twentieth century green morocco, slight fraying to corners of first 16 leaves; sold not subject to return

Provenance: Capt., later Major, Harry Goldie. Harry Goldie served with T.E. Lawrence in the Hejaz in 1917-1919, and accompanied Lawrence and General Allenby into Jerusalem December 9th, 1917 where, according to family tradition, he picked up or was given, this manuscript Koran.
