Provenance: The embossed arms are believed to be that of Adam Bothwell. Bothwell was bishop of Orkney, who conducted the marriage between Mary Queen of Scots and her third husband, James Hepburn, the Earl of Bothwell. He also crowned the young James VI in his mother's place. Marginalia in the book is believed to be in Adam Bothwell's hand.
