Provenance: From the collection of Bruce Ritchie.
Note: Brandes & Durkan A20a, describing the covers as "dark-brown paper-covered boards." Inscribed on the front free endpaper by the author for Bruce Ritchie "The end of art is peace" with good wishes and gratitude for your work with my work. Seamus Heaney March 1983." Loosely inserted is an ALS and cover from the author as from 191 Strand Road, Dublin, 17 June 1983 inquiring as to whether he had returned to Bruce a couple of items sent earlier for signing. Heaney explains that he is just back from teaching at Harvard (the letter is on Harvard paper) "facing a cliff of unanswered letters."
