Das schloss zu Edinburg... [Germany: N.p., n.d. (c.1840?)] German peep-show of Edinburgh Castle from the Grassmarket, 225x135mm and extending 640mm, hand-coloured cover with three spy-holes, 5 hand-coloured leaves and hand-coloured lower board with signatures of two previous owners illegible on reverse, darkened, rubbed and chipped with some soiling and repairs to concertinaed area; Regulations for Hackney-coaches Edinburgh: Alex Smellie, 1811. 16mo, 16 printed leaves and printed folding table of measured distances between points, modern vellum covers with tie, inside lacquered tin painted with "No.77", 140x71x20mm (2)

Note: It is likely that the peep-show was originally produced with loose sheet which could be inserted at either end to create a 'double' peepshow. Unfortunately, this sheet is not present.
