Description
A letter from James Chalmers, Solicitor, to Hugh Cleghorn (single sheet of folded paper), dated 28th July 1814, complaining about the delay in paying the balance of his account for work on the case against the Dempsters, watermarked 1813, postally used July 31st 1814, damage with loss where the wax seal (still present in two parts) has been broken

Note: Chalmers points out that the golfers are "liable conjointly and severally" for the debt and he appends a list of 16 who are affected by the letter including 'The Town of St Andrews'.
