First edition, 8vo., publisher's light brown cloth, decorated in gilt on both covers by Granville Fell, spine darkened and with wear to head and tail, corners bumped, some offsetting and spotting to endpapers, short split at upper inner joint, gift inscription on the half-title to Hildegarde Coghill, small bookseller's label of W. Mullan of Belfast at lower inner corner of front pastedown, one of 750 copies

Provenance: Elizabeth Hildegarde Augusta Somerville, mother of the Chaucer scholar Nevill Coghill, wife of Sir Egerton Bushe Coghill and sister of Edith Somerville the authoress and artist who wrote in collaboration with her cousin "Martin Ross" Violet Martin under the pseudonym "Somerville and Ross."
