Footnote
Note: The play, a radio play, was the fruit of a commission from John Tydeman, then head of BBC drama. It took more than three years to complete and was a year late in delivery. (Ira Nadel Double act: a life of Tom Stoppard, London, 2002, p. 401.) It was broadcast on BBC Radion 3 on 21 April 1991 staring Felicity Kendal to whom the play was dedicated. It became the foundation for Indian ink. (Baker & Wachs A22 Note two)
