From the library of the Glasgow's first Director of Museums and Art Galleries (1939-1952), famously purchasing Salvador Dali's painting Christ of St John on the Cross and taking a leading role in the early negotiations to secure the Burrell Collection for the city. Honeyman was elected and served as Rector of the University from 1953 until 1956.
