Description
Travels of Ali Bey in Morocco, Tripoli, Cyprus, Egypt, Arabia, Syria and Turkey between the years 1803 and 1807. London: Longman &c., 1816. 2 volumes in one, 4to, complete with engraved portrait, 4 folding maps, 85 engraved plates [comprising plates 1-83, 12bis and 28 bis], heavily dampstained throughout, spotting and soiling, preliminaries loose, a few leaves frayed, a few panoramic plates holed at fold, library stamps on title of volume 1, old half calf, very worn, covers detached, lacking spine***** Plate 71 is very long and in this copy has been bound in in 2 halves, giving the impression that it is 2 plates whereas it should be counted as 1. This is why some copies are catalogued erroneously as having 86 plates [+ portrait & 4 fdg. maps]
