Footnote
Note: This large cache of letters detail the correspondence between Gloria, a resident of Selkirk of Italian origin, and Ilio Orlandini, an Italian Prisoner-of-War. Early in 1946 Gloria discovered she was pregnant and a few weeks later Ilio was forcibly repatriated to Italy. The letters lay in a wooden travelling case in a Tuscan hamlet until c. 2010 when they were turned into a book "Letters to Ilio... a Selkirk Story" by Barbara Laurie. A copy of the book is included in the lot.
