Note: This piece of cloth was formerly in the possession of the Ray family at Tannington in Suffolk. During the coronation Elizabeth changed her robes twice. Her Parliament robe was of crimson velvet with a fur of powdered ermines. Her Robes of state were of purple velvet, consisting of a kirtle and a surcoat 'made round to the shoe with tabard sleeves' and a mantle with a long train.
