4pp, Hogmanay 1960 and 2pp. 13 Jan. 1961, discussing life at Moray House, Mackay Brown's views on "that dubious snobbish word 'culture'", discussing his writing "being engaged in mortal combat with 2 longish poems and a fierce dragon of a play", discussing visitors, the later letter stating that he is enclosing a poem "six wee haufs" [not part of the lot; sold in these rooms 13/01/2010], and a long poem about the Battle of Largs, & suggesting Wilson send a copy of Phoenix to Sydney Goodsir Smith "he will probably review it in the Weekly Scotsman, enclosed in a single envelope addressed to John Wilson
