Footnote
Note: The Orderly Book section would appear to relate to military activities during the Siege of Havana in July 1762. References in the manuscript to "Guana Macoa" would seem to refer to Guanabacoa, a colonial township in E. Havana. The General Order for 24 June 1762 notes "the soldiers to be informed that if they stragul on the Left of the road going to Guana Macoa beyong where the men of war watter [sic] they will certainly be taken by the enemie" .. General Orders for 3rd July 1762 refers to Highlanders and the trial of John P[---], Drummer of the 40th Regt., "courtmartial for desertion is found guilty and sentenced to suffer Death" while Johnston Thrope of the 48th Regt. is"tryed for robing and barbarously ousing a Spanish woman... and sentenced to receive 1000 lashes".
