watercolours of a deserted island in Persian Gulf, Muscat, Bassore, mosque in Balsora, tomb on the banks of the Euphrates, Ormus, Penang, Malabar, Church in Mauritius, Longwood (St Helena), a pagoda, &c., most of them cut down, with loss of caption, some with modern caption added in biro, some crudely repaired or laid down, some tears, fraying and soiling, c. 34 x 23cm., modern boards, [c. 1815-17]

Note: A note, dated 1959, on the front board states "Persian Gulf, Islands in the East Indies, Mauritius, Trincomalee Ceylon, St Helena, Island Penang straits of Sumatra, and many others, painted by, it could be, Robert Livie Mitchell, or Hugh Mitchell. I know that Basil Hall visited St. Helena in 1817 and its is a very funny thing that where [sic] ever Hugh Mitchell was Basil Hall was also there".
