Description
Photograph album containing views of Burma, including images of the staff and works of the Burmah Oil Company, [n.d., c.1904]. Oblong folio, 56 large format photographs, c. 11 x 8", majority uncaptioned though several captioned in the negative, a couple identified by hand, overall in good condition, album contemporary half roan, slightly worn, 5 further large format and 2 small photos loosely inserted.

Note: The Burmah Oil Company was formed in 1886 in Scotland and by the early 20th century owned the larges oil fields in the British Empire, producing 90% of Burma's oil output. The first 8 images show group portraits of staff, the following 48 topographical or portait photographs, including oil fields, Rangoon, the countryside, an oil blaze and elephants at work.
