Footnote
Note: Wade 169. Described as the "second pillar of Yeats's mature reputation."(M. M. Gatch & Ed Maggs A Little dust: the Gatch collection of Yates, 2012, p.23), the present edition differs considerably to the work with the same name published in New York in 1929. Connolly in The Modern Movement considered The Winding Stair along with Yeats's The Tower as, "a peak in English poetry".
