Autograph letter signed, to Bertie Herbert Farjeon, "Dear Bertie", asking if "that little cottage of yours on your common will be empty?", saying they like Myrtle Cottage "but Pangbourne is repulsive - it sort of smells - women use scent on their clothes, & petrol plus river plus pavement plus women - I suffer by the nose", referring to "picnic with Ros [Thorneycroft, sister of Herbert Farjeon's wife Joan] (not Margaret"); "I'm reading Harrison Ainsworth - Jack Sheppard - & wish I could become an interesting criminal", referring to a river trip "but Faugh! - humanity - I can't bear to be mixed up with it... I'm so sick of mankind", 2 pages, Myrtle Cottage, Pangbourne, Berks, undated [but August 1919]
