Footnote
An early collaboration between Charles Shannon and Charles Ricketts, pre-dating the official founding of the Vale Press, in 1896, but lettered ‘The Vale’ on the binding. The work was preceded by the pair's work for their magazine The Dial (1889-97) and their illustrations for A House of Pomegranates by Oscar Wilde (1891).
