Description
hand-coloured, heightened in gum arabic, approx. dimensions 55.5 x 37cm or reverse, most with sewing-holes along one edge and ink-stamps of Newcastle-upon-Tyne public library on versos, light toning. Comprising:
1) Neophron percopterus (Egyptian vulture), marginal finger-soiling, small closed tear to left-hand edge; 2 & 3) Circus cyaneus (hen harrier), 2 copies; 4) Circus cineraceus (ash-coloured harrier); 5) Astur palumbarius (goshawk), a little soiling, ink-stamp verso; 6) Circus aeruginosus (marsh harrier), 2 copies, one with slightly jagged top edge and small nick to right-hand edge; 7) Buteo vulgaris (buzzard), Pernis apivorus (European honey-buzzard); 8) Erythropus vespertinus (orange-legged hobby); 9) Falco gyrfalco (gyrfalcon/Norwegian falcon); 10 & 11) Archibuteo lagopus (rough-legged hawk), 2 copies, one with a few spots; 12) Falco candicans (white gyrfalcon/Greenland falcon), dark race, adult; 13) Falco candicans (ibid.), dark race, young; 14) Falco candicans (ibid.), light race, adult and young; 15) Falco Islandus (Iceland falcon), young, finger-soiling along bottom edge; 16) Falco Islandus (ibid.), adult; 17) Aquila chrysaetos (golden eagle); 18) Haliaetus albicilla (white-tailed eagle)
