Third edition, folio, engraved frontispiece and 114 engraved plates (13 folding), title printed in red and black, one folding plate strengthened on verso, margin of 2 preface leaves strengthened on verso, modern period-style calf, spine with raised bands, gilt tooling in compartments, THE 4 INDEX LEAVES AT REAR ARE IN FACSMILE

Note: In 1756 Ware published A Complete Body of Architecture a wide-ranging work intended to "supply the place of all other books". It was described by John Summerson as "ably compiled, reflecting very fairly the solid, thoughtful competence of its author's executed works".
Provenance: Marriott Ogle Tarbolton, gift of her aunt Elizabeth Oyle, 1852 inscription. Marriott Ogle Tarbolton MICE, FGS, FRMS, 1834-1887, was Borough Engineer for Nottingham from 1859. Harold Ogle Tarbolton FRIBA (1869–1947) was a 19th/20th century British architect, mainly working in Scotland. In later life he went into partnership with Sir Matthew Ochterlony to create Tarbolton & Ochterlony.
