Description
London: Richard Marriott, 1678. First edition, 8vo, engraved portrait frontispiece, inscribed by Walton on the title-page: "for ma[ste]r. Hon. John Lloyde I:W" [John Lloyde, a relative of Walton's by marriage] with several autograph corrections to the text which mirror some of the corrections on the errata leaf, contemporary calf neatly rebacked with later spine, some light dampstaining, bookplate, some notes on the endpaper in a later hand, in modern brown morocco folding box lettered in gilt
Footnote
Note: According to an early note on the fly-leaf, John Lloyde, the person to whom Walton inscribed the book, was either Walton's brother-in-law (who wrote some of the commendatory verses in the Compleat Angler) or his wife's nephew. In his will Walton bequeathed a ring to a John Lloyde.
