Description
written to various family members and acquaintances, a quantity, including several to John Irving Esq., surgeon in Annan (regarding the purchase of a horse and Roman archaeology amongst other things), some to his wife regarding day-to-day life; also several letters to Carson, including those expressing condolences for the passing of his wife: "Your lamented wife, now a Saint in Heaven, was a very uncommon character and cannot be remembered in an ordinary manner by any person who had the pleasure of her acquaintance..."
