Note: Sir Christopher Blount was a Gentleman of the Horse to the Earl of Leicester. The Earl was married to Laetitia Knollys, widow of the 1st Earl of Essex. The latter had died in September 1576, Leicester marrying the countess two years later. In 1588 Lord Leicester died and in the following year Lady Leicester married Christopher Blount. Blount was a leading participant in the Earl of Essex's rebellion against Queen Elizabeth in 1601 and was executed on Tower Hill for high treason.
