Note: Not published until the Scottish History Society edition of 1893, the Journal gives a detailed account of the period between the Restoration and the Revolution. As an aspirant to the Bar, Erskine attended the courts where those apprehended in the aftermath of the Battle of Bothwell Bridge were tried and sentenced to death or banishment.
