Description
The New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. London: John Field, 1658. 12mo, New Testament only (i.e. lacking all before Qq6), Vv7 torn with some loss to text, [similar to ESTC R31600 but signatures do not correspond]; [bound with] The Whole Book of Psalms. London: John Field, 1658. 12mo, A5 & A6 misbound, some tears and rubbing to D10 with slight loss to text [bears some resemblance to ESTC R230020 but contains more leaves and title is slightly different]; contemporary black morocco gilt panel design with bird and floral motifs, Dutch endpapers, ruled in red throughout, a little rubbing and bumping to corners and spine, bookplate, 2 18th century ownership inscriptions
Footnote
Note: The text of the Bible ends on Ddd12 verso. This is sometimes (but not always) considered to be a foreign, pirated edition of Field's "Pearl Bible", printed by order of Oliver Cromwell for use among his soldiers.
