containing coloured Valentine's Day cards and ? proofs for Valentine's Day cards by Edward Gilks and others, six signed in the plate by Gilks, artist, lithographer and draughtsman, born c. 1822, apprenticed 1836 to Thomas Dean, lithographer in London, emigrated to Australia in 1853 where he set up as a lithographer in Melbourne. He was on the committee of the Victoria Fine Arts Society, exhibited  at the Melbourne Exhibition in 1854 & in 1855 he became a lithographic draughtsman in the Department of Crown Lands.
