Footnote
Note: Lord Archibald Napier, 1576-1645, was a Scottish politician and judge, whose support of King Charles I against the Covenanters led to his imprisonment in Edinburgh, then Linlithgow, Castles. Napier escaped Linlithgow Castle and joined his brother-in-law, the Marquess of Montrose, at the Battle of Philiphaugh. After losing the battle, Montrose and Napier escaped to the Highlands. Lord Archibald Napier's account is his defense against accusations of financial misconduct.
