Footnote
Note: In this scrapbook were, formerly, two autograph poems by James Hogg: Robin's Awa, and The Skylark [sold in our rooms, 10 June 2009, lot 246 and 247]. The poet James Hogg worked occasionally for General Dirom of Mount Annan, Dumfriesshire, in the Scottish borders at this period. Hogg wrote a poem The Harp on the Hill on the death of two of Lieut. General Alexander Dirom's daughters, and Hogg's practical work, The Shepherd's Guide (1807) was dedicated to General Dirom. Colour photocopies of the two poems have been loosely inserted where they were originally placed.
