Footnote
Note: Polidori, physician and secretary to Lord Byron, allowed Byron's name to be ascribed to the work he had written until Byron disclaimed authorship. The second issue appeared without Bryon's name on the title and "almost" mispelled in the last line of p.36. In April 1819 Colburn, the publisher of the New Monthly Magazine (where the work first appeared in the April 1, 1819 issue), turned sheets of the work over to Sherwood, Neely, and Jones, while retaining some for his own title-pages. The first issues both by Colburn and by Sherwood, Neely, and Jones gave Byron as the author; the first is unrecorded, the latter extremely rare. Wise, Byron Library, p. 96
