A collection of extremely rare almanacks. The first, Bellerson's lacks 'A short discourse of the yeere'. The second, 'Compiled and written according to the true rules of lawfull Art, by John Johnson Teacher of Arithmetick and Geometry in the City of London', was also composed according to the latitude and meridian of London (but valid for the whole of Great Britain), with the same contents - apart from the Anatomical Man - and similar health notes at the top of each month. The third almanack, by George Hawkins, is 'Calculated for the Meridian and Latitude of Cirencester in Gloucestrer-shire' (but intended 'for all the South and West parts of England, & without sencible error for all England'). The fourth, by John Vaux, Curate of St. Hellen, Aukland, unlike the previous almanacks, conatins a one page chronology of importany hoistorical events from the Creation to "ill Lady day in Lent."
Provenance: Bookplate of E. F. Bosanquet on pastedown.
