A watercolour album containing approx 10 watercolour and pencil landscapes, 2 watercolours of horses, 2 engraved portraits of the Princess of England and Landgravine of Hesse-Homburg and her husband Frederick Joseph Louis, the hereditary prince of Hesse-Homburg, pasted into the front, sumptous calf binding with heavy gilt central lozenge with elaborate corner pieces with onlays in green and red, some fading to backstrip and lower-edge of bottom board

Note: Elizabeth, Princess of England and Landgravine of Hesse-Homburg,1770-1840, was the seventh child of George III and Queen Charlotte. Known as "The Muse", she produced illustrative works from 1796 onwards, including The birth and triumph of love with poetical letterpress by Sir J Burges [1796, reissued in 1822 & 1823] and The seasons [1820]. Her work was well received, being generally announced as that of "an illustrious personage" and she worked with a number of figures of the period including William Combe, the infamous "Dr Syntax".
