Provenance: From the library of The Right Hon. Sir W Gibson Craig Bart. Lord clerk Register of Scotland (1797 - 1878). Sir Gibson became an advocate in 1820 and was appointed Lord Clerk Register and Keeper of the Signet from 1862, a position he held until his death. He was made a Privy Counsellor in 1863.
Note: Only volume one of this set of records was ever published, being superseded by the Acts of parliament of Scotland in 1814. This edition was immediately suppressed after publication on account of criticism of Robertson's editorial methods. This earlier publication contains a quantity of material then excluded from the later A.P.S..
