Description
Enjoy a relaxed tour of Cutlers' Hall followed by a champagne afternoon tea for six people.
The amazing Cutlers' Hall - an English country house setting in the very heart of London - is a hidden gem rarely open to the public. You'll be guided around by the Beadle of the Company and hear about the history of both the building and company, whose first Royal Charter was granted by Henry V in 1416.
Cutlers' Hall, in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral, was built on land in Warwick Lane. It had been the site of the Royal College of Physicians from 1674 to 1825 and subsequently a foundry. The Hall was designed by Mr. T. Tayler Smith, the Company’s Surveyor, and came into use on March 7th 1888. Although cutlers traded in all manner of cutting instruments, it was their skill at producing fighting weapons that brought them wealth and prosperity and likely their Royal Charter, only months after the Battle of Agincourt.
