Note: A contemporary photograph dining room at Finnart House, which Walton decorated and furnished for the sugar refiner John Lyle circa 1900, shows an oak dining table and matching chairs. The chairs have Walton's characteristic semi-arched tops to the upholstered backs, and match the table with its sled base. The present lot also displays these characteristics but may have been used in a drawing room as easy chairs with their chequer inlay and larger proportions.
