Footnote
This model was only issued in 1953 and is known by collectors as the ‘53FA’, referring to the use of a fatter broad arrow on the dial, as opposed to the ‘53TA’ that used a thin arrow. The original dials featured a thin arrow and were made using radium luminescent. Due to the radiation from radium affecting detection instruments, the British military requested batches were returned to Omega for the radium to be replaced with tritium, and the use of a broad arrow signified this. In addition, this example has an encircled T to indicate tritium, a feature that became standard on British military issued watches.
