Lily Blatherwick was born in Richmond and was the daughter of Charles Blatherwick, a doctor who moved to Rhu on the west coast of Scotland in 1865. Her father was a talented watercolour painter and together with Lily they were founder members of the Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours. In 1896 Lily married AS Hartrick and went to live initially in London and subsequently in Gloucestershire. At that time she used both oils and watercolour to paint flowers and landscapes exhibiting widely at the R.S.W, R.A, R.S.A, S.W.A, and R.G.I.. In 1907 she returned to London where she became interested in lithography exhibiting prints of flowers and animals at the Senefelder Club. She died in Fulham in 1934.
