Note: Douglas has been producing paintings, sculpture and mixed media projects from his early teens on a journey which has seen him gain a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Glasgow School of Art (1972), and create artwork for musicians such as blues legend John Martyn. His artworks are now part of private collections in Scotland and abroad.
Over the years Douglas has travelled extensively studying the works of artists he has long admired from Catalonia, Italy and France, creating works which have mirrored his universal influences, including artists such as Miro, Kandinsky, Hepworth and Mondrian. His work fuses this myriad of styles to create personal statements of joy, loss, pain and the wonder of the human condition.
Over the last few years Douglas has created and exhibited his "Line Man" abstract series, which has further extended his joy of colour and form, with many of the pieces now being integrated and extended into a new project of public art, utilising young talent from the Glasgow's multicultural community arts group Roots2TheFuture , where Douglas is the artist in residence.
The proceeds of this painting will go towards the humanitarian cause in Catalonia.
