Footnote
Paul Bony was a French master glassmaker whose collaborations with Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall and Georges Rouault helped translate their designs into stained glass. He worked closely with Matisse on the windows for the Chapelle du Rosaire at Vence, a project conceived in 1947 and completed in 1951. Bony’s technical expertise was essential to realising Matisse’s carefully judged interplay of blue, green and yellow glass, which fills the chapel’s white interior with coloured light.
