‘Forrest Modern interchangeable fittings are assembled from a number of basic components to suit your particular requirements, and the only limitations are your imagination and the laws of statics. Shades are spun aluminium stove enamelled a colour and are guaranteed heat resisting. Each shade is a complete unit consisting of spinning, lamp holder, switch, flexible cable, supporting tube and clamp. Clamps, rods and tubes are of black anodised aluminium alloy. Bolts, lever handles, bushes and universal joints, etc. are of polished brass. Bases are cast iron covered with aluminium spinnings and stove enamelled white. Colour - white bases and black rods are contrasted against brightly coloured shades. The standard colour range consists of “House and Garden” Cherry, Lemon Peel, Middy Blue, Bitter Green, and Black and White.’ (Forrest Modern Catalogue, 1954).
